Stitch Fix vs. Trunk Club

After trying both Stitch Fix and Trunk Club, I’ve got the deets. I am pleased to say I loved both boxes! Here’s my honest review and some of the details of the services.

This review is not sponsored in any sort of way, I just get a friend referral credit if you choose to try one of the services. If you try Stitch Fix, you get a $25 credit for yourself. As always, this review is 100% my own opinion. If you choose to shop from my favorites page or through my LiketoKNOW.it page I am an affiliate and your purchase helps support my blog! Thanks! Quick Facts

Are there any fees?

Yes, but both stylist fees roll into your final purchase. Stitch Fix is $20 and Trunk Club is $25. If you choose not to purchase anything, that is when you’d lose the $20 and $25.

Is it a subscription?

No. You can simply do one box and forget it. Or, you can set it up to reoccur. Both companies are very flexible.

How many items do you get?

Stich Fix sends you a set number of 5 and Trunk Club sends around 7-12 items. Both companies send clothes, shoes, handbags, and accessories.

How much does it cost?

You are not required to buy anything, but if you don’t buy an item, you lose your stylist fees. Both boxes allow you to customize how much you want to spend based on a scale from very affordable to luxury. I am on a budget and was able to make both boxes work for me, and alternatively if you can afford luxury clothes, you can still use both services! Trunk Club can add up quickly because they send you a bunch of items, but again you aren’t required to buy any of them.

Which do you prefer?

This is a reallyyyy hard one. I honestly enjoyed them both and would do both again! They both have their pros and cons.

Stitch Fix:

Pro: 25% off if you purchase the whole box. It was almost the same cost as buying 3 items with them full price. They also ask a ton of questions when you are signing up to ensure they get your style just right.

Con: You don’t get to directly communicate with your stylist, and if you use the service again you stylist may change.

Trunk Club:

Pro: You get to talk to your stylist 1:1. Trunk Club sends you a preview of the items in your box before it’s sent to you. You can cancel and customize items before they get sent to your home. You also get a ton of options when your stylist picks out clothes for you.

Con: You get a ton of options when your stylist picks out clothes for you. (HAHA.) This isn’t really something bad, but’s it’s a “con” for my wallet. Also, the sign up process took longer than I expected. Not really a problem, but you need to know in advance that it takes about a half hour and you need to chat 1:1 with your stylist through IM.

Final thoughts

Here’s what I think. Both of these boxes can work for the busy person. And, aren’t WE ALL BUSY ALL THE TIME. It’s like a gift to yourself, from yourself, to make you LOOK GOOD. *pretend there’s a praise hand emoji* You get to try on the clothes in the comfort of you own home and mix and match with pieces you already own. You aren’t stuck in the dressing room wondering if that top will work with your pumps at home.

If you are on a strict budget, I’d choose Stich Fix. They have a lower price scale and send you less items.

If you are trying to refresh your work attire, I’d choose Trunk Club. Even if you are on a budget, Trunk Club can still send investment staple pieces that can save you money long term. I’m tired of buying cheap clothes and having them fall apart after the first wash.

Both boxes nailed my style and they all fit! If you are a Pinterest addict like me, you can send your style boards to either company and they can see all your style inspo. (P.S. Follow me on pinterest if you haven’t already!)

Both boxes would please anyone! It’s not a subscription and the most you have to lose is the styling fee. I hate throwing away money just like the next guy, but if I’m interested in getting some new clothes anyway, why not save the hassle and have them sent to me!

If I really had to choose just one, I’d choose Trunk Club. BUT only because I can see what they are sending in advance and cancel items so I don’t get stuck with too many tempting goodies. 😉
