My baby is 11 months old

My little girl takes adventures up the stairs and is obsessed with clementines. She loves books, flicking the light switches, and being held. She’s doing this thing… where… I can’t put her down. I’ve been wearing her because I need my hands free and she’s NEEDY AF. All the moms I’ve talked to say “oh it’s only a phase”. SHE’S BEEN DOING THIS HER WHOLE LIFE. HER 11 MONTHS OF EXISTENCE. ALWAYS. NEEDS. TO. BE. HELD. I have a love/hate relationship with this holding thing. I loveeee that she needs me, but I’m also not jacked yet so this isn’t benefiting me. Can I at least get some upper body…

    Mom Life – February 2019

Lately I’ve been counting the minutes until bedtime. The guilt I feel for saying that is terrible, but it’s the truth. I’ve been a little absent from my social media and the blog because I’m in this never ending state of exhaustion. (Little disclaimer: a bad day with her still beats a good day at the office. I’m so grateful that I get to spend so much time with her–just some days are hard.) Dad: *puts down baby* *baby is happy as a clam* *sky is blue, birds are chirping, there’s a rainbow in the distance* Mom: *puts down baby* *baby SCREAMS* *WORLD IS ENDING* She’s around 11 months now…

    Hosting out of town guests

I love hosting out of town guests! I’ve outlined some great tips you can use to make your guests feel right at home. We get a lot of guests because we moved far away from all family in friends for work. You can read about if you should move for a job, or about our first year in Minnesota! I think hosting out of town guests is a lot like staging a home. You want to make the guest feel warm and welcome. Open up the shades, turn the lights on, and light a candle right before they arrive. Think about what you would want if you traveled to a…

    Taking the bottle

The baby that wouldn’t take a bottle, finally took a bottle. On February 3, 2019, my little girl finally took not just one, but two bottles of formula. No added fruit to the mix, just straight formula, straight from a bottle. She is 10 months old and this is the most exciting thing to happen to us. I literally wanted to scream with joy that my little girl finally took a bottle. Let me tell you. I tried every bottle and every formula. Slow flow, medium flow. Breastmilk. NOTHING. This caused bumps in the road That’s part of what factored in to me quitting my job. Madison wouldn’t take the…

Should I move for a job?

You’ve likely stumbled across this post because you’ve gotten an amazing job offer or you’ve heard that you can find work in a new place and you are wondering if you should move for a job. My husband and I moved for work and I’ve outlined our experience here. Should I move for a job? Short answer: HECK YES. Medium-length answer: If you are single and you have nothing holding you back, HECK YES. Long answer: Well. Let’s get started, shall we? I love living in Minnesota–I genuinely love it. (You can read about our first year.) But it’s hard AF being away from family with a little child. That’s…

Life lessons from an air fryer

Things I’m good at: Sticking my foot in my mouth. I can’t tell you why I do this, just sometimes things come out that I shouldn’t say and most likely don’t mean. It’s word vomit. I only realize how dumb and rude they were after I say them. I seriously never mean them to sound as bad as they are. They have a different meaning in my head and my intention wasn’t to hurt anyone’s feelings. Disclosure: Some of the links below in this article are affiliate links. My baby is 9 months old!

My little Madison is 9 months old! She’s been outside the womb for about as long as she was inside. You can read our birth story. I’m excited to have written this post now because I will have a reminder of these good times when she’s a teenager and isn’t obsessed with me anymore. She’s basically a leech. I can’t put her down or she’ll scream. Yeah, my arm feels like it’s going to fall off, but I appreciate how I’m her favorite person in the world right now. From experience, here are the requirements to be a parent: You must be able to change modern pop songs into baby…

    Our Family Christmas Letter 2018

Hey there! Welcome to our very first family Christmas letter. I don’t know what I am doing, so bear with me. Incase you haven’t heard me mention it a thousand times already, our family lives in Minnesota! Yes, I know it’s cold. I live here. Don’t remind me. I’ll be jealous of all my New Hampshire friends who sunbathe in January. (For my friends in other parts of the world, New Hampshire is where we used to live and it’s cold in January too. 🙂 ) We love it here so far. The summers are beautiful and the winters really aren’t too bad. We just stay inside. Jeff earned his…

    Our family photos!

Let’s set the scene. We scheduled our family photos for late October and when the day came it was a mere 35°F (2°C) outside. Winter came fast this year in Minnesota. (Read about our first year in Minnesota!) As you can imagine, our little girl was not a happy camper. She is usually extra smiley, but you’ll notice that we didn’t get many photos of her smiling. We spent a lot of time running to the car trying to warm her back up. Even though it was FREEZING outside, I am still really pleased with how our photos came out! Working with Christa, from Christa Reed Photography was awesome. She…

    How motherhood has changed me

My little girl is 7 months old, and that means I’ve been doing this whole mom thing for 7 months. I didn’t think motherhood would change me, but to my surprise, it has. Did you see our family photos? I love being a mom, and every day she gets more and more fun. (Granted, she doesn’t move yet. Maybe I’ll regret saying she is more fun each day when she discovers markers and colors on my wall. I’ll keep you posted.) But, just look at how cute she is. *squeals* How motherhood has changed me   I’m more decisive. Time is limited now. I have to spend it wisely. I…
