Tuesday Tidbit: Girls’ Weekends are Mandatory

Welcome to the second Tuesday Tidbit—a short post to inspire or entertain. [Read last week’s post.] For this week’s post, I’ve decided that girls’ weekends are mandatory. Say YASSS to a girls’ weekend the next time your friend/cousin/sister suggests it. We had an excuse for one, my cousin is getting married, but I think that we often get caught up in our own daily lives that we forget how absolutely essential girls’ weekends can be. We stayed in this beautiful cabin in the mountains for my cousin’s bachelorette and it was unforgettable. This post contains affiliate links. Tuesday Tidbit: Take a chance!

Welcome to the very first Tuesday Tidbit. Published every Tuesday, a short blog post to encourage, inspire, or to simply entertain. This week is ‘Take a chance!’ This Tuesday, as the title says, I’m taking a chance and I’m encouraging you to as well. Do that thing that’s been eating at you. Why not? Life is short! Cliché of course, but where’s the comfort in this unpredictable world if we can’t all use the same overused phrases? What’s something that you’ve wanted to do? For me, I’ve wanted to chop my hair off, but I’ve been afraid. I’m a perfectionist and terribly indecisive. (Also why it takes me FOREVER to finalize…

How to maintain your breast milk supply while traveling

Are you wondering how to maintain your breast milk supply while traveling? I did it! It is possible! I outline everything below: what I used, what worked, what didn’t work, and obstacles while traveling. Once in a lifetime trip My husband was kicking ass at work and earned his way into the President’s Club trip to Sardinia, Italy. (See more about our vacation!) But there was a catch – when the trip was scheduled, my little babe was only 2 months old. My sister-in-law volunteered to babysit almost immediately. I contemplated the trip for a while. So many questions were running through my head. Would she get sick? Would she…

    Our trip to Sardinia, Italy!

As I write this, I’m sipping on some Italian prosecco trying to pretend I’m still in Sardinia! Sardinia is an island off of Italy in the Mediterranean Sea. Everywhere we looked there was beautiful ocean and gorgeous yachts. What kind of career do I need to afford a yacht? Poltu Quatu in Sardinia I wasn’t able to grab a picture of it, but we saw the 4th largest yacht in the world while on a off road tour and it was as big as a cruise ship. Rumor has it that it is equipped with a submarine, incase the owner needs to escape the boat quickly. I wish I was that…

I was INDUCED – Our Birth Story

I don’t remember what life was like before our little bundle of joy arrived! She’s two months old, and I love spending every second with her. I recently met some moms and we all shared our birth stories, it was really interesting hearing about what the other moms’ experiences were like. So, I decided to write our birth story up to share!   Days leading up to birth I was due on March 29, and my baby was too comfy to leave. Once I entered March, my boss was convinced I was going to disappear at any moment. I had a feeling that my baby would be late and I…

11 Essentials for your new dream kitchen!

Have you noticed that your kitchen is the place where your guests hang out when you are hosting? Kitchens always tend to be a gathering place–whether you are hosting or in your day-to-day life. I spend so much time in my kitchen. It’s my first stop in the morning to get water and coffee. I’ve created this post to help you build out your dream kitchen! My husband and I have moved around a lot. We had a kitchen that was poorly designed with missing cabinets and minimal counter space. One of the drawers wouldn’t open because it would smash into the fridge. We don’t miss that kitchen. We also…

    Should I hire a doula?

My experience with a doula Are you having a child in the near future? Are you wondering about your options for child birth? I can tell you all about my experience with my doula! According to dictionary.com, a doula is a woman who provides support during labor and child birth. I don’t think I can say enough good things about my doula. She was AMAZING. I don’t know how I would have delivered my beautiful baby without her support. (And if you live in the Minneapolis area, I’d be happy to give you her info! Leave a comment!) Why did I look for a doula? I first started looking for…

    How to install wainscoting

When we first moved in, my husband used the room that was supposed to be a dining room as his office. It was an EYESORE. Don’t tell him I said that. He moved his office because he missed having a door anyway, so he could shut the door for his conference calls. I was excited that I didn’t have to stare at his messy desk anymore. But after he moved all his stuff, we were left with this empty room. I wasn’t sure what to do with it. I didn’t need a dining room and I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on furniture. We decided to make it…

    How to paint laminate furniture

I found these shelves on Craigslist cheap! I’ve been looking for shelving for the nursery and buying new can get expensive. I was excited when I saw these because I could repaint them!  I asked the person who posted the ad what material they were and he said that they were wood. I was a bit skeptical. Sure enough when I saw them in person, I knew they weren’t real wood. Painting real wood is different than painting laminate, and I outlined how I did it below. This post contains affiliate links. Learn more. Here’s what I used to paint laminate shelves: 3M Very Fine Hand Sanding Pads (I got mine…
